Conditionals in "Eastern Europe style"

Doing english homework is so much fun! Have a look for yourself:

  1. If i saw someone drowning, i would throw some rocks at him.
  2. If i had a toothache, i would drink alcohol until it will fade away.
  3. If i met someone famous, i would hide...
  4. If i lost my wallet, i would buy a new one.
  5. If i broke my mum's expensive vase, i would sell its remains and buy some booze.
  6. If i was elected Prime Minister in my country, i would commit suicide imediatly.
  7. If i got stuck in a lift, i would do my homework.
  8. If i won a lottery, i would buy all of the tickets to win it again.

Animal shelter burned down with cats and dogs

A terrible thing happened today in Lithuania's city port Klaipeda. An animal shelter got on fire. Four firetrucks came in to extinguish the fire, but unfortunately it was too late.. All 15 dogs and 18 cats have died because of smoke and high temperature. It is very sad a accident. The fire might have started because of a heater... It is so sad than animals which we try to help perish because of our own fault...

A dog's story

Eight years ago then i was only ten years a wonderful thing happened to me which i remember it until now...
It was an usual autumn day. A bit cloudy, a a bit sunny and not too cold. I was walking with my parents to the bread shop. It was not necessary for us to go here but since it was a weekend we thought we'll go for a walk. Once we entered the shop we saw a strange girl was sitting on the counter eating sweets and talking to the assistant. A minute later she started to shout at people. Everyone in the shop couldn't understand what is happening. The girl looked all crazy. She had chocolate stains on her face and on her clothes. Nobody knew what to do. But one thing was for sure that this girls has some kind of mental illness. An old lady called the ambulance and they took her way. Well we finished shopping and while walking outside we noticed a puppy with a rope on his neck. It was like a leash or something but looked like a rope. A woman walking by said it was that girl's dog. My parents were thinking to go home but i stopped them and started to cry that we must take that puppy to our home. It's alone and we can't leave it like this! I don't know why but it didn't take a lot of time and they agreed to take it home! There was a problem that we already had one small dog and the flat where we lived in was small. So we decided to give away puppy to grandparents. They had a big house with a lot of free land. Again the easily agreed to take the puppy. And so the puppy(actually it's not a puppy anymore) still lives here and sometimes i visit it :)

Let's talk about... Fishing in eastern Europe

Fishing routine

Fishing is a very important part of Lithuanian culture. Not as important as basketball but still quite popular and enjoyable activity. Every boy learns to fish from their fathers, grandfathers, uncles or friends. Fishing is well known as father's and son's time all other the world. I remember myself fishing as young as i remember anything at all. So some of my oldest memories then i am fishing with my father. But why fishing attracts people? Why the hell they sometimes sit all day at the lake (like my father) and still catch nothing? I am going to try to answer these questions. Accurately my father for you will. So here's an interview.

Why for you fishing is so fascinating?
- Well, because I can catch fish!, - he laughs. It is my hobby. I love being in the nature, especially near the waters. It's so peaceful here and of course the whole fish catching process for me is very exciting.
How much money do you spend for your hobby?
- Mainly nothing at all. Rarely i spend money for new equipment as my father left a lot of fishing equipments. And yes I about 3 dollars (approximately) for a fishing license. When i go fishing i don't have to use my car because all the waters are near so i save on fuel.
What kind of and how many fish you usually catch?
- I usually catch rudds. Like 10-15 a day. Depends on the weather and temperature. For catching rudds i use special pastry or worms, sometimes maggots. Not so often i go fishing for pikes, using live bait.
What is the biggest fish you have ever caught?
- It is a 5 kilogram zander caught on live bait. I caught 15 years ago in Rusne (Lithuania's biggest island) at Nemunas river(The biggest and the longest river in Lithuania).
What are the conditions of this activity in eastern Europe?
-There are many fishermen around but we get well together and there's enough space for everyone. In the little town which has 2000 people you could say that many people go fishing. It's a pity that the environment around is not clean. People go near the waters to relax and celebrate. Also they leave a lot of rubbish or break footbridges which fishermen construct to reach good spots. One pool was polluted few years ago. All fish have died there. But there are still a lot of places where you can go.

So do you go fishing in your country too?

A Habit to plagiarize (Alexander Rybak)

So the winner of 2009 Eurovision Alexander Rybak made quite a successful impression to many countries despite that he won the Eurovision. And again music performers just couldn't resist to not to plagiarize (copy) his songs or create similar ones. So Lithuania has a person Ruslanas Kirilkinas who thought why he can't earn some money by performing Eurovision's No.1 hit, the famous song by Alexander Rybak called "Fairytale". And so he did it...
Ruslanas Kirilkinas - Fairytale(Alexander Rybak rip-off)

But that's not it. A few months ago he participated in a Eurovision song contest he did not get through. And you'll never guess with what song.. He wrote a song called "I'm in love with a boy who's in love with a fairytale". And the song is about loving Alexander Rybak.. In my opinion it is very low to copy other singers especially after they have succeeded in such an events. The song is not too bad , some people may find it even beautiful but the fact that it's a rip-off makes me sick... So here it is.

So do you get these kind of things in your country too?

A Habit to plagiarize (Lady Gaga)

Then a singer becomes very famous all over the world it is usual that some people will try to copy the style, music or anything they can get about that person. Well yup it is called PLAGIARISM. We are used to this behaviour aren't we? But Lithuania and the rest of eastern Europe has a very stinky habbit to plagiarize everyone and they do it a lot. It is very dissapointment then watch somebody singing on television and you realise oh that's Lady Gaga's song, and wow my country has no creativity. So here are a few examplos of Lady Gaga plagiarism  in Lithuania which really pisses me off...

Lady Gaga copy in Choir Wars TV project
I have to admit i like this version more than the original but... It is not her song! Did she wrote the lyrics? No!(I doubt if Lady Gaga herself wrote it but that's not the point) Did she composed music? No! Did she got famous with that song? No! So she did nothing but look it is possible to have something from doing nothing. Shame shame shame...And here's another one!
Copying Lady Gaga (Live)

This one's even worse! Not only that she coppied Lady Gaga - Poker face accoustic version but she failed in singing it too. Even a bigger shame for that performance...

Answer me, do you get these kind of things in your country too?

Iron (head) man

Lithuania is very modern as a new movie "Iron man" came to the cinemas one person decided that he can be as hard as an Iron man! Meet the Iron (head) man! He smashes bricks with his head with no trouble!

But that is not it! He can break the unbreakable! Watch him trying to break a HELMET with his head!!!

What do you think? Is he hard enough to beat the Iron man???
